Chief Election Commissioner Appointed
President Asif Zardari has appointed Justice Hamid Mizra as the new Chief Election Commissioner reports the BBC from Islamabad.
The move was called uncontroversial in a week of controversy following the termination of former commissioner Iftikhar Chaudhry (video) Monday.
Allegations of corruption still swirl around Parkistan as the three major parties continue negotiations that will attempt to broker a provisional government. New Commission Mizra was among the serving justices terminated in 2007 by then-President Pervez Musharraf.
